Lily Lourigan ’25 spent a lot of her childhood at Carthage because her mother was a professor on campus. When it came time to apply to a college, Carthage was at the top of her list. A recipient of the Modern Language Scholarship for Chinese, Lily is thrilled to be part of Carthage’s Chinese program and to participate in music and theatre classes.
Favorite class
“So far, my favorite class has been my private cello lessons because my instructor, Professor Peter Thomas, takes the time to attend to what I like to do rather than just what he wants to teach. We study different techniques of how to create music on the cello — it’s really fun and interesting.”
Campus involvement
“I am the president of the Martial Arts Club. We meet three times a week, and it’s always a blast.”
Career goal
“One day, I would love to be recognized worldwide for my musicality and to be featured in movies.”
What would your 8-year-old self think of you now?
“My 8-year-old self would think that I am on the right path to my dream of stardom.”
